The term blue collar worker originated from the color of uniforms that factory workers wore. This group of indiviuals were concidered the Teritary or third level of individuals if we were to rate them. The stereotype has a double edge sword, having both the negative context of unskilled or lazy individuals. The other end of the spectrum is hard working ethics and pride of skilled labored.
