1.) He wanted people to like him for the way he was.
2.) He was also trying to get people to not hate him ans think he was ugly for his wooden teeth that he had in.
3.) He also wanted to try and make everybody all happy for the way that he was.
4.) He also wanted to be that person that everybody had gotten along with.

The first thing George Washington did was to make sure the United States was an independent country, one that was in no way beholden to England. He supported the newly written Constitution and the Bill of Rights; and he made certain that the public did not perceive him as a king-- in fact, although he could probably have served as many terms as he wished, he restricted himself to two terms as president.
