After a bill has been passed in each chamber, a conference committee is formed to write a compromise bill, which then must be approved by both chambers once again, before t is sent to the President to sign(approve) or veto (disapprove).

The two versions are brought together in a conference committee, in order to reconcile them. The differences are discussed and then, hopefully, a compromise is reached. If a compromise is not reached, the bill usually dies, although it may be brought up again later, with the hope of a better outcome.

A bill must pass through both the house and senate in identical versions. So, if the senate were to make changes to a bill and pass it after it made it trough the house, it would then go back to the house to be passed again and visa versa. Also, the two houses may create a joint committee to workout the changes that have been made to the bill, so it will then make it through both the house and senate identically.

The house and the senate appoint what is known as a Joint Committee .

These are the people that mediate between the house and the senate to draw up a bill that both houses can agree on. This is often a long process and sometimes agreement can never be reached. The compromise bill must be passed by both houses or else one house must pass the other's bill before it is sent to the President.

In the US - a conference committee is called, and a compromise bill is created, which must then be passed by both houses.

In Australia - the amended bill is returned to the house of its origin until an identical version of the bill is passed by both. If the Senate rejects a bill, 3 months pass and they reject the same bill again, the Governor-General has the power to dissolve both houses, and an election is held.

I belive that the 2 versions end up in a confrence commitie. A confrence commitie is a joint commitie (house and senate members) and then the form 1 version by mixing the 2. Once done the 1 version will be debated upon and voted on to see if it passes. If passed it becomes a law.

A committee has to come together to reconcile the differences and then it becomes a new bill to go before congress for a vote.
