Best Answer

Greek slaves did the same things slaves back in the South did in the USA. Took care of fields, helped clean the house, etc.

Women usually stayed at home to keep an eye on the slaves. Let's just say, they had one good punch.

By the way, slaves in Ancient Greece were called "helots."

It depended who they belonged to. Household and farm slaves worked as long as required and rested, ate and slept when not required. Some slaves were given businesses to run, and made their own times. Mining slaves collapsed when they got out of the narrow shafts until they were sent to wriggle back down them. A wide range of activities, from severe manual effort, prostitution, part of household life to running commercial activity. Mostly sparse time off work was rest time.
