The First Triumvirate comprised Julius Caesar, Pompey the Great, and Marcus Crassus. They cut a deal of power sharing in 56 BCE at a meeting in Northern Italy which met each of their own interests. Caesar got a second five years in Gaul, Pompey another consulship, and Crassus the Parthian campaign.

The first triumvirate was a political alliance between Julius Caesar, Marcus Crassus and Gaius Pompey. The three acted to further each others' interests along with their own. It was not a formally sanctioned entity, as the second triumvirate was, but rather a series of political conniving by three politicians.

The first triumvirate was formed originally in 60 BC and the three men connived to have Caesar elected consul the following year. It was renewed in 56 BC for the "arranging" of the second consulship of Pompey and Crassus the following year, which would see to it that Caesar kept his command in Gaul.

What three men created the Second Triumvirate in 43 BC?

We don't know the names of the actual first triumvirate. Triumvirate only means "three men", and it was a committee that the senate appointed to investigate certain problems and to come up with ideas for a solution. However the triumvirate that is commonly known as the "First Triumvirate" consisted of Caesar, Crassus and Pompeii. It was not formal nor official, it was simply three men working for each others interests.

What did a Triumvirate do?

If you are referring to the first triumvirate, it did nothing. The first triumvirate was not a legal body; "first triumvirate" is simply a title that historians have given to the political maneuverings of Crassus, Pompey and Caesar. Now the second triumvirate, is a different matter. The trio of Antony, Octavian and Lepidus was a legally sanctioned body, charged with the capture and punishment of Caesar's killers. The first thing that they did was to stop squabbling and cooperate with each other for at least as long as it took them to defeat Brutus and Cassius. If you are referring to the first triumvirate, it did nothing. What is the second triumvirate who composed it?

A triumvirate is a group of three men. The second triumvirate was made up of Lepidius, Octavian and Marc Antony. It was officially sanctioned by the senate and its mandate was to track down and punish Caesar's killers. It is called the "second" triumvirate because previously Caesar, Pompey and Crassus had formed what historians call the first triumvirate, although the first one was not a legally sanctioned body, it was just three politicians conniving to promote their own interests.A triumvirate is a group of three men.
