The Egyptians mummified the dead because they believed the persons soul would leave the body at death and return. The soul needed to be able to recognize the body to live forever and therefore they used the mummification process.
They made mummies and placed things in the tomb with them to prepare them for the 'after life' so that they were ready for what they believed would happen to the dead - the afterlife. hope this helps.
The 'mummifying' process was done to preserve the remains of their dead. They believed that when a human died they went directly into the afterlife as they were. And in order for them to 'arrive' in the best possible condition they were wrapped in cloths soaked with their preserving substance.
Egyptians began mummifying their people as a religious practice. They believed mummification would lead to well being in the afterlife.
because they want to remember their relatives a long time.

sometimes but not likely
If you are asking "When the Egyptians were making the coffin was it placed inside the pyramid?"The answer is possibly. It is not entirely sure where the coffins were made but it is highly likely that they were inside the pyramid.
Th Pharaohs were embalmed and their mummies were put in sarcophagi.
They put the mummified dead into a coffin made of wood (sometimes into several coffins), which were richly decorated, and the coffin (or coffins) was put into a sarcophagus which was made of stone.
The mummifed corpse of an Ancient Egyptian royal or noble would usually be placed inside a sarcophagus, along with several other smaller coffins which protect the mummy.
Only the pharaoh and nobles could afford to be made into mummies and have a proper burial, lower class were put in coffins and thrown into the desert. (The sand preserves the bodies naturally).
They put mummies in it and jewels and precious stuff and I think they worshiped it.
