Elementary school is usually kindergarten, and then grades 1 to 5, so that would be ages 5-11. Then middle school is usually grades 6 to 8, or ages 11-14. In some school districts, they keep 6th grade in elementary school and only have grades 7 and 8 in middle school, so in that case it would be ages 5-12 in elementary and 12-14 in middle school.
