The Romans were famous for building impressive aqueducts which brought water from the sources on the mountains to the towns. They built several hundred aqueducts around the empire. The Romans also built ports, bathhouses sewage, theatres, arenas and public building (basilicas) everywhere they went. They also developed thriving trading networks throughout their empire and beyond. They reached India, the spice Islands in Indonesia, China, Persia, Arabia and Ethiopia. The Romans also spread the use of their language: Latin.

They also introduced new and more productive grains which made bread became important in the British diet. They brought white cattle, brown hare, chickens, guinea fowl, pheasants, and rabbits were probably introduced as farmyard animals. The fruit they introduced included apples (as opposed to crab apples), grapes, cherries, mulberries and Pears. They also brought walnuts and sweet chestnuts.
