All of them. Terror cells operate world-wide.

The main organisation of the terror faction dispatches groups, or cells, in their target countries. One of the main purposes of these cells is to recruit new terrorists and send them to terror training camps, usually hidden away in African or Arabic deserts.

Another purpose of these cells is to plan terror attacks on the target country, using the recruits. Suicide bombers were usually born in the country that they are attacking - not always, but most of the time.

For example, a recent case would be the foiled attempt to bomb the 2012 Olympics in London. British intelligence discovered that terrorists planning to attack the London Olympics were actually British citizens, which were brainwashed and trained by terror cells from abroad.

Therefore you can argue that every country is a "terrorist" country, since for all you know, your own neighbour could be building a bomb.

Then again, the word "terrorism" has no definite definition. There are conflicting definitions depending on who you ask.

Some will say terrorism is the act of mass murder by terrible means (ie bombing, hijacking). Others will say terrorism is the act of inciting mass fear but not necessarily through mass murder (ie Propaganda, political assassination).

Both terror factions and western culture engages in acts covered by both definitions. So, whichever definition you choose, factions and countries alike can be labelled "terrorists".

For example, let's look at North Korea. They're a country, not a terror faction, however North Korea is responsible for the Rangoon bombing and the mid-air bombing of Korean Air Flight 858 - both defined as terrorism.

While the main countries known for generating terrorists are:

  • Afghanistan
  • Iran
  • Iraq
  • Pakistan
  • Syria
  • Sudan
  • South Yemen
  • Somalia

The majority of countries on the globe have engaged in acts that would normally be defined as terrorism.

The leads to the well-known saying "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter".
