∙ 12y agoNow in this day and age we feel that this war was one of the most important, winning the freedom of many. Back then though: in the begging and threw all of the war the South had a fighting spirit that ending with the surrender of general Lee, but at the end of Lincoln's second term the North felt it was a waste of time, so in that election Lincoln's running mate, a former union general, wanted things to go back to "pre-war" times. But after a few wins by the North, it boosted the fighting spirit, letting Lincoln win the election.
