Of the 9.4 million or so European Jews prior to the Holocaust, only 3.4 million survived. Jews outside of Europe were generally untouched numerically by the Holocaust, so there were about 4.5 million Jews outside of Europe both before and after the Holocaust. This leads to a combined total of 7.9 million Jews in 1946.

The death toll was upwards of four million with some estimates even reaching six million. While this was a debilitating blow on the overall population many survived due to help they received from European non-Jews or by their own luck.

If you are referring to how many Jews in Nazi-occupied or Nazi-friendly countries escaped the Final Solution, the answer is that it varies greatly by country.

In the best case, Denmark was able to save virtually 100% of its (small) Jewish population, mostly by shipping them secretly to Sweden.

In the worst case, Poland suffered the loss of almost 99% of its Jews, as the Nazi occupation of Poland was brutally efficient in rounding up and exterminating the Polish Jews. This picture gets even worse, when the statistic that about 40% of ALL European Jews were Polish.

In absolute numbers, the total European Jewish population (including the UK, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and European Russia) before the outbreak of WW2 was roughly 9 million. 6 million were killed by the Nazis and sympathizers. So, this means 2/3rds of all European Jews were killed in the Holocaust.

How many people surived in world war2?

There is not an exact number of people who survived. And you did not specify which category of people. Jews - There were about 600 million Jewish people captured by the Germans during World War II, and less than 6,000 survived by the end of the war. Polish - There were about 200 million Polish soldiers, maybe more. About 50-100 million survived by the end of the war. American - About 60 - 70 million US soldiers entered the World War II. About 59 million survived. Less Jewish people survived because the Germans mainly wanted to kill them (Germans hated Jews), the Germans set up camps and captured the Jews, and killed them off. Less Polish soldiers survived than US ones because Germans directly attacked and invaded Poland, Japanese (Germany's allies during the war) only attacked our Pearl Harbor, so the soldiers went overseas to attack back

Around 10% of Polish Jews survived the Holocaust. This number is particularly low since the Nazi Regime designed the Holocaust to specifically remove Poland's Jewish community.
