animals were used to carry ammunition and food stores to soldiers other animals had jobs like: Mules were used to carry equipment, ammo and food over the steep, rocky mountains of Italy and the jungles of the Pacific.

They also used dogs to find wounded and injured soldiers in no-mans-land, send messages and detect mines. Horses were used as well to carry ammo and to help home the enmy as the horse would start to panic when it sensed danger.

I don't understand what you mean by this question. Who is "they"? If you mean "were dogs used for military purposes in WW2" the answer is yes. They were used as guard dogs and for sentry duty. There were also attempts to use them for front-line work, but in general this was not successful.

If you mean "did people have dogs at the time of WW2" the answer is also yes.
