There are actually 4 main causes for WW1.

1. Alliances-Systems of alliances meant to keep peace, but are dangerous. War between 2 nations would involve many more.

2. Imperalism-competition for colonies led to freedom clashes among major powers of Europe and all over the globe.

3. Militarism-The belief in power of strong armies and navies to solve issues. Competition would arise so that they would be bigger than anyone else so no one would touch them.

4. Nationalism-The strong love for ones country led to people protecting their boarders.
