Germany was the most affected by World War 2 (and Japan but not to the same extent). Nearly all of Germany's buildings, homes and businesses were leveled by battles and bombing campaigns. Many villages were made non-existent. Six million Jews had been killed. Most of the Germans were starving and homeless. They had no more government, economy or healthcare system. Japan still had leadership and the entire country had not been leveled. They were hungry but many still had their farms and some still had businesses and homes. The recovery of Japan was less difficult.
