Finland was attacked by the Soviet Union before Russia and Germany went to war and, although she put up a good fight, was forced to make concessions to the Soviets and had to maintain a careful neutrality for the rest of the war. Even thought Finland "won" the continuation war, peace treaty made Soviet Union winner because Finland was fighting with German

Denmark was attacked by Germany on the morning of April 9, 1940 and surrendered before noon of the same day. Over the course of the war a resistance movement steadily grew. When Germany invaded Russia some Danes volunteered to fight for Germany. Michael Montagne

Denmark managed to ship almost its entire Jewish population to Sweden before they could be deported to death camps. It is this, more than anything else, that Denmark is best known for in WW2.

Denmark did also sink almost the whole danish navy fleet when the nazi tried to take them under the German flag.

Denmark also had their own military units set up in Sweden. Infantry, a small airforce and also a small navy. Those military units was meant to be used during operation rädda danmark = operation save denmark a swedish plan to liberate Denmark.

When the Germans in Denmark surrendered soldiers from "den danske brigade i sverige" the danish brigade in Sweden was shiped over to Denmark to keep peace and to deal with possible resistance.

The Danes were a divided people after their German occupation. Many simply went on withe their lives. The King remained as the nominal head of state while Britain made an invasion of the Faroe Islands and Iceland to keep them out of German hands and to protect their Atlantic shipping lanes to the Americas. The German occupation was very unpopular and that sentiment increased as the war drug on.

What axis countries were in northern europe in World War 2?

Nazi Germany was the only Axis Power present in Northern Europe during WWII. Finland is sometimes considered an Axis Power as well, but the Finns describe their acts during WWII as wars of independence and not part of WWII. Nazi Germany had invaded and conquered the countries of Denmark and Norway. Iceland was in a union with Denmark at the time, but remained free from Nazi occupation. The country was initially neutral, but the Allies eventually became present. Finland was just recently independent from Russia following World War I. Finland was an ally of Nazi Germany and supplied the country with materials. It was first invaded by the Soviet Union, an Ally, known as the Winter War. The Soviets never conquered Finland, but the Finns did cede 10% of their land to the USSR. The country then fought in the Continuation War, where they again remained independent, but ended up ceding land to the Soviet Union. The third and final war Finland participated in was the Lapland War against Nazi Germany, where they expelled the Nazis from Finland, forcing them back into Norway.

Was Finland neutral during the Holocaust?

Finland was an ally of Germany during the Holocaust Finland did surrender eight Jews who had escaped from Austria (seven of which did not survive the Holocaust), but because of the overwhelming public protest at the surrender of these foreign nationals, Finland refused to send anymore. Hence Finland was the other (along with Denmark) country to defy the Nazis. In fact the Nazi troops were forced to fight alongside Jewish soldiers and had to put up with field synagogues.

Which country is Macbeth in battle against in act 1 scene 2?

During the play Claudius mentions numerous times that Norway would likely attack Denmark. Before the play, Denmark had taken much land from Norway and Hamlet Sr (Hamlet's father) killed the Norwegian King (Fortinbras' father). Technically though, Norway never attacks Denmark, but the two can be considered to be on the brinks of war. It should be noted Norway does attack and take land from Poland during the play.
