Basically to kill the archduke Franz Ferdinand. He was meant to be shot by different members of he gang on the 28th of june when he was on a parade, but they all missed. But then after his lunch, the archduke continued with the parade, but his driver took a wrong turn, and they just so happened to run into the leader of the black hand gang. while the carraidge was stopped, he shot the archduke and his wife. He then tried to kill himself, but the police got him before he could, and that set off World War 1.
