The difference between the Holocaust and American slavery is that the holocaust was an attempt to exterminate an entire race of people. Slaves were brought to America to make a profit or to work for an owner. Because of this difference it is widely mistaken that the amount of people killed in the holocaust was greater than that of slavery. Most people would agree that the number of Jewish people killed during the holocaust comes to a total of 6 million with another 5 million killed for the aid or harboring of a Jew. There were roughly 30 to 40 million slaves killed before ever reaching America. That's not including the number of slaves that were killed after reaching America. Only 10 to 15 million slaves made the journey.

∙ 12y agoPrisoners of war were combatants, the victims of the Holocaust were not, the lines blur when talking about Soviet prisoners of war as they were treated (almost) as badly as the victims of the Holocaust.
To amplify somewhat: If an American soldier was a German prisoner of war - and the Germans were not known for great hospitality when it came to their American prisoners of war - they still had a 95 to 98% chance of surviving POW camp. A concentration camp inmate had, at best, a 10-12% chance of surviving.
In Japanese prisoner of war camps, it was a different story. In the worst camps, 70% of American troops imprisoned by the Japanese died.

∙ 11y agoThe holocaust and WW2 happen at the same time which consisted of Nazi terrorism organizations and the Jewish groups. WW2 was a war against many different countries for lots of different reasons like trade embargoes, and communism, and Hitler's taking over of countries.
