Was Mending Wall by Robert Frost read at the Berlin Wall?

User Avatar

Asked by JillPinon

There is no evidence to suggest that "Mending Wall" by Robert Frost was read at the Berlin Wall. The poem itself is about the physical and metaphorical boundaries between neighbors, while the Berlin Wall was a physical barrier separating East and West Berlin during the Cold War.

What did the Berlin Wall symbolize?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The Berlin Wall symbolized the division between East and West Germany and the larger ideological divide between communism and capitalism during the Cold War. It served as a physical barrier to prevent East Germans from fleeing to the West. Its fall in 1989 marked the end of the Cold War era and signaled the reunification of Germany.

Was Ronald Reagan at the Berlin Wall?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Ronald Reagan didn't "break the Berlin Wall."

The biggest problem with the myth that Reagan killed communism, is communism was coming apart at the seams while Carter was in office. Carter was a smart man, and he knew all he had to do to cause the downfall of communism was nothing because their economic system was not sustainable. Reagan came into office in 1981 rattling sabers, which caused the Soviets to put their system on sort of life support.

If Carter would have been reelected the Soviet bloc would have embraced democracy by 1984 because Communism would have failed. Thanks to Reagan, we had ten more years of communism that we wouldn't have had before.

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The city of Berlin, during the Cold War era (1945 - 1989) was divided into two sections, which were known as West Berlin and East Berlin. West Berlin, originally controlled by Britain, France, and the US, quickly reverted to German control. East Berlin remained under Soviet control (which is to say, it was controlled by the USSR) until 1989. The city of Berlin existed on the border between East and West Germany. It was not contained in just one sector of Germany, it was in both.

What is the price of circulated 50 cent pieces?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Not enough information. Half dollars have been struck for over 200 years, and older silver coins turned up in circulation as recently as the 1970s.

If you have only 1971 and later Kennedy halves, go ahead and spend them. They're made of cupronickel like dimes and quarters, and are only worth face value. If the coins are older, you need to organize them by date and mint mark, and get an idea of their condition. You can then check the pages linked below for a rough idea of retail prices.

The US sent over soldiers to Germany for fear that a war was going to break out-actually there were a few cases when a war almost did break out. They kept soldiers over there for many years to defend the West (which was the Us's France's and the UK's-they each had a sector).
