King Henry (VIII) wanted to divorce his first wife, Catherine of Aragon.
He applied to the Pope in Rome. The Pope would not annul ther marriage. Basically, Henry said that no one outside England was going to tell him what to do in England, because he was King.
So he broke away from the Roman Catholic Church (the Pope), and reformed the Roman Catholic Church that was in England, into the modern Anglican Communion. It is known as the 'Reformation'.
NB When you see pictures of King Henry, and knowing his actions from history , he comes accross as a very Autocratic person.

The Napoleonic Code of Law works on the basis of 'The accused must prove his innocence in a court of law, otherwise he/she is improsoned/fined.
The English Code of Law works on the basis of ' The accused does NOT have to prove his/her innocence in a court of law. It is for the accusers to prove guilt. If guilt is not proven the accused goes free.
It is a very subtle difference!!!!
The English Code' comes from, King Henry (II) in 1180's. when he established Circuit Judges and Trial by Jury of Twelve Just Men and True, and right of innocence.
The Napoleonic Code, as the name suggests comes from Napoleon, in the 1800's when he was 'conqueror' of Europe, and the right of innocence was removed.
A very recent example of the Napoleonic Code in action was the murder of Merdith Kercher in Italy. Amanda Knox(USA citizen) and Solecito were accused. Amanda Knox could not prove her innocence, so the Italian court imprisoned her. She appealed on the decision, but it took four years for the law process to act. Whereupon she was released, and went back to the USA.

As Germanic tribes which contributed dramatically to the decline and fall of Western Rome in Late Antiquity, the Visigoths and Ostrogoths traveled great distances from their original East European homelands to their new homes (gained at the expense of Rome) in Western Europe. Horses were utilized in their travels, as well as in battle, but it is likely that these tribes, like so many other 'barbarians,' utilized their feet, mules and oxen and other transport-animals, and also carts or other wagon-like vehicles during their migratory movements.

YES!!! Mankind has been very violent towards himself in the past.
Basically, it was trying to spread "itself". By this I mean that the USSR was trying to spread it's own ideology, then called Stalinism (one of the many types of communism), which encouraged social revolution in all countries, so that workers would be able to fully enjoy the benefits of their production, as well as to contribute to the common good rather than to the riches of capitalist businessmen (Note: this differs little from the most basic form of ideal socialism, which is Marxism, but, in reality, Stalin forced many of the changes encouraged by this ideology through extremely violent & unethical means, thus making true Stalinism a form of totalitarianism, i.e, a dictatorship). By doing so, the borders of the USSR, which divided it from other countries around it would eventually disappear, making the nation's overall territory progressively larger, giving it access to more people - more workers & citizens - and resources. Henceforth, it can be said that the USSR was basically trying to spread itself, as a nation and ideology, so as to, ideally, unify all of the world's peoples (although the means used threatened the security & interests of other countries, including the USA, thereby giving rise to the conflict that was the Cold War).
