Abolitionists.
The Northerners who were violently opposed to slavery were called the Quakers. Quakers were a religious group who found slavery to be a "peculiar institution."
The violence had to be internal as at that time most Quakers did not support armed force inside the US on social issues.
The Free Soil Party, mainly comprised of former anti-slavery Whigs and Democrats pushed the superiority of the free worker and fought to stop the expansion of slavery. Much has been said about the economic advantage slavery gave the wealthy plantation owners. This advantage was a disadvantage to the white free worker who could not compete against non wage workers who would inevitably cheapen their worth as workers.
They were called Abolitionists.

They were called extremists, but the Northerners termed them as "fire-eaters", for their belligerent conduct. Later they became known as the confederates or rebels, but only during the Civil War.
A person opposed to slavery and in favor of ending it. The word 'abolish' means to do away with. The person wants to abolish slavery; that's why they are called abolitionists.

SOMEONE AGAINST SLAVERY WAS DAVID BECKHAM called abolitionists. Nat Turner, Harriet B. Stowe, Fredrick Douglass, William Lloyd Garrison, John Greenleaf Whittier, Charles and John Henry Langston, Robert Purivs, Theodore Weld, and Abby Kelley Foster
They (wrongfully) believed that president James K. Polk's aggression was an attempt to extend slavery. They called it this to take away national support of the war. Actually, he wanted California at all costs. He got away with it, but ultimately, the new acquired territories vs. slavery question led to the American Civil War.

They're called abolitionists because they wanted to abolish slavery. They hated it, thought it was morally wrong, and wanted it to end. They were usually northerners or previously slaved southerners
Southerners were outraged at John Brown's attempt to steal weapons and ultimately free slaves, while northerners called him a hero and martyr. They believed that he died to for the cause of the abolition of slavery.
I'm not very sure what your question is. But pro-slavery men snuck over and burned building of Northerners or non-slavery people. They burned official buildings and murdered 5 people. This was called "Bleeding Kansas."
