What is the informal amending process to the Constitution? There are two main ways that the interpretation of the Constitution changes, and hence its meaning. The first is simply that circumstances can change. One prime example is the extension of the vote. In the times of the Constitutional Convention, the vote was often granted only to monied land holders. Over time, this changed and the vote was extended to more and more groups. Finally, the vote was extended to all males, then all persons 21 and older, and then to all persons 18 and older. The informal status quo became law, a part of the Constitution, because that was the direction the culture was headed. Another example is the political process that has evolved in the United States: political parties, and their trappings (such as primaries and conventions) are not mentioned or contemplated in the Constitution, but they are fundamental to our political system.

Fourth Method -- Amendment is proposed at a national convention called by Congress when requested by two-thirds of the State legislatures (34 of 50), then ratified by special conventions held in three-fourths of the States (38 of 50).
To formally amend the constitution means that a government is using the right means to add some laws to the current constitution using the best ways, for example, the legislative arm of the government.

There is no "informal" way to add an amendment to the Constitution. An amendment must be proposed by a two-thirds vote of both houses of Congress or by a convention called by Congress at the request of two-thirds of the state legislatures. The Constitution itself can be "interpreted" by the courts, Congress, or the Executive, and has over the history of the nation. That is one of the reasons the Constitution has lasted and changed with the times.

There is no informal LEGAL method to ammend the Constitution of the United States. Article V states: The Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress; provided that no amendment which may be made prior to the year one thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any manner affect the first and fourth clauses in the ninth section of the first article; and that no state, without its consent, shall be deprived of its equal suffrage in the Senate.

2nd amendment right to bear arms does not say unless you are a felon and our constitution is not to be amended on?

That is why the Judicial Branch exists. With rights come responsibilities. If a person cannot accept responsibilities, it is in the public's best interest to relenquish that person of his rights. The courts make rulings to that end. The constitution is not ammended without good cause and, then, only after cautious deliberation.

What does it mean to amend the constitution?

Amendments are additions or clarifications. When a constitutional amendment is accepted and enacted, it effectively adds its contents to the constitution, or clarifies points set forth in either the constitution or another amendment. In the Constitution of the United States of America, numerous amendments have been accepted, some shortly after the document was drafted. Effectively, the Constitution served as the foundation, the framework for the ideals of the government. Amendments were proposed, and some added, to expand upon the Constitution's intent. The first ten constitutional amendments, collectively called the Bill of Rights, was completed roughly a decade after the Constituton was adopted. Amendments can be removed. The 18th Amendment was ratified in 1919, and banned alcohol in the United States. This period, called Prohibition, ended in 1933 when the 21st Amendment was passed. The sole purpose of the 21st Amendment was to repeal the 18th Amendment. In summary: to amend any document, constitutions included, means to modify, add, or clarify the document.

Why is the U.S Constitution called a living document?

because it can change at any time. All it takes is the required amount of states to ratify an amendment and the constitution changes. Older amendments can be overturned as well. So the U-S Constitution is something that can change, not something that is carved in stone and unchangeable.Because the added amendments breathe new life into it.

Why is the us constitution considered a living document?

The Constitution of the United States is considered a living constitution because it can be ammended by the Supreme Court and so while it was written a long time ago it is still being changed to this day. So, because the original document is not "written in stone" and can be altered it is considered to be a "living" constitution. If this is a homework question, next time use the index or table of contents if you are unwilling to do a bit of proper reading or research, it will only take about a minute to find the answers.

Why is the US Constitution call the living document?

It has changed with timebecause it can change at any time. All it takes is the required amount of states to ratify an amendment and the constitution changes. Older amendments can be overturned as well. So the U-S Constitution is something that can change, not something that is carved in stone and unchangeable.Because the added amendments breathe new life into it.It is called a living document because it can be changed when it needs to be changed.First of all, it is still used and relied on for an entire country of 300 million+ people. Secondly, and probably more relevant to this question, it is being changed. It can be ammended, and the way it is interpreted can change over time. Because it is not stagnant and it can change with time, it is considered a living document.
