• 5 pounds to buy a well built row house in York.
• 30 to 65 pounds to buy a merchant's house
• 90 pounds for a house with a courtyard.

A well paid blacksmith or baker might have made 5 pence per day. Working six days per week, this would come to 2.5 shillings per week or 6 pounds per year.
