The falcon By Megan Wright
About 25,000 men in 600 war ships
The Spanish Armada consisted of 130 ships, 2,500 guns, and more than 30,000 men.
On Christopher second voyage he had 17 ships and 1500 crew member to go on the voyage
Only 2 of his original five ships made it back.
He sponsored a voyage to the New World. He sent a contingent of men to seek out a suitable place for a military bastion. Roanoke Island, in what is now North Carolina, was selected. Ralegh did not accompany that, or either of the two subsequent Roanoke Voyages.
Ships held about 35-50 men.
10 Million
The 100 men that were sent to settle Roanoke Island in 1585 were sponsored by Sir Walter Raleigh, an English explorer and poet.
Sir Walter Raleigh is predominantly known for exploring The Americas ie. he sailed West from England. The key aspects of his travels are: 1578 - Sir Walter Raleigh sails with his half brother, Sir Humphrey Gilbert, in the "The Falcon" to America. 25 March 1584 - Walter Raleigh receives the patent to explore and settle in North America. 1584 - Sir Walter Raleigh's fleet of seven vessels under Richard Grenville and Ralph Lane, with 108 men, reach Roanoke Island and establish a colony on 4 June 1584. 6 February 1595 - Sir Walter Raleigh leaves England to sail to the New World to search for the city of El Dorado (the City of Gold). 1595 - Sir Walter Raleigh explores the Orinoco. 1616 - Raleigh travels to Guiana, but his mission fails and he attacks a Spanish settlement (for which he was beheaded in 1618).
4800 men on the ships
Sir Ralph Lane led the expedition to Roanoke Island in 1585. He was appointed by Sir Walter Raleigh, who sponsored the expedition to establish the first English colony in North America. The group consisted of around 600 men who arrived on Roanoke Island, present-day North Carolina.
The first two voyages (1584 and 1585) were comprised entirely of men. The third (1587) voyage included men, women and boys. There were no girls until Virginia Dare was born on Roanoke Island on August 18th, 1587. She was the daughter of Ananias and Eleanor White Dare. Eleanor White Dare was the daughter of Governor John White, who led the colony. The majority of the colonists were male. According to the ships' lists, some of the women shared the last name of some of the men. This could mean that married couples were part of the colony make-up, or possibly brothers and sisters. Some of the men would have been artisans with skills that were needed to forge a new life in a new country, some would have had military skills. Some, quite possibly, were servants. The women would have filled the traditional female roles of that time period - midwife, servant, homemaker (although that term was not used at that time).

She was a beautiful woman. I doubt very much an Hermaphrodite Queen would have attracted men like Sir Walter Raleigh and Lord Essex.
