Europeans colonized for many more than just three reasons. The four primary reasons (and that is leaving many reasons out) that Europeans colonized were:

1) Wealth: This was colonization to extract wealth or resources from a target territory.

2) Strategic Positioning: This was colonization, primarily in the Old World, of a specific territory because of its proximity to a useful geographic feature or unconquerable nation.

3) Religious and Governmental Evangelism:
This was colonization in order to spread Christianity and/or modern Western governance structure. It was usually couched as an effort to civilize the local barbarians.

4) Glory: Europeans who conquered on behalf of their mother countries brought prestige to those countries and honor and glory to themselves. The thought of being the toast of the town and a name etched in stone for eternity was very valuable to some.

What were the main for European exploration?

God, Glory, and Gold were the motives/main motives/ideal prizes for European exploration/exploration in general. For a more detailed answer, the motives for exploring was finding a trading route to Asia. The Muslims and Italians had most control of the trading, so Spain and Portugal and other parts of Europe wanted to find another route to Asia so they may trade freely for gold, silk, and paper. Another motive was wealth and adventure. Some Europeans heard of the discovery of new lands and they wanted glory and wealth, but some also went just for the spirit of adventure!
