∙ 15y agoThe French had just helped the United States of America win their war against the English government. The French peasants were VERY poor and the aristocrats were VERY rich. When the government added ANOTHER tax on the poor people they had had enough. They decided they were no longer going to take it, and then the French revolution happened.

∙ 12y agoThe third estate, along with a few members of the other estates, created the national assembly as a response to King Louis 16 locking them out of the meeting hall, after which, they met in the royal tennis court and took the Tennis Court Oath, swearing not to leave until a constitution outlining their demands to the King was created.

On July 14, an angry crowed captured the Bastille, a Paris prison. The mob wanted to get gunpowder for their weapons in order to defend the city.
