The most immediate reason for Russia withdrawing from WWI was their change of government. Russia underwent two revolutions in 1917; one in February and one in October. The second of which was majorly motivated by the Bolshevik political party's promise to make peace with Germany and halt the suffering in human death through casualties on the war front and starvation on the home front. When the Bolsheviks took control they proceeded to make peace with Germany.
