The long term causal effects of the War of 1812 came about as a result of the United States claiming to be neutral in the war between France and Britain, yet still giving supplies to the French. The US made a bill known as Macon's Law No. 2, which promised support to the government that stopped attacking US ships. Napoleon tricked them by saying he would, but in actuality failed to do so. General William Henry Harrison destroyed Indian efforts in the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811. Britain offered little support to Tecumseh, however they were blamed for instigating the rebellion.
