The British at the time were demeaning and demanding of the colonies. They would tax the colonies with tariffs and give the colonists little say in what their government should be like. Over time the anger built up, protests surged, the Boston massacre enraged citizens, battles such as the Battle of Bunker hill were won and lost. On July, 4 1776 the Declaration of Independence was adopted, this declared America independent from Britain

How did the colonists expieriences under British rule influence the decision to add the Bill of Rights to the Constitution?

The American colonists' experiences under British rule were a decisive influence upon the American Founders' decision to add the Bill of Rights to the newly ratified Constitution in 1791. The Second Amendment, for example, was derived from the American experience in the Revolutionary War, where the 'right to bear arms' had nearly been taken from them by the British and in fact proved to be one key factor in the initial successes of the 'Patriot cause' when hostilities formally broke out.
