The Alien and Sedition Acts were passed in the United States after the French Revolution. They sought to strengthen national security, but imposed strict restrictions on immigrants and also limited speech critical of the government.

Well the sedition act was pretty much a law that made it illegal to talk against the war (WW1) and have serious consequenes on spionage.

So if you were against the war and voiced your opinion you went to jail. From a goverment point of view this was good for them because everyone will support the war and have better breathing room to make sure this war was dealt with the attention it rightfully required if this law was not passed you would have a Vietnam War sceneraio.

During the Vietnam war you saw alot of hippies against it and aswell as politicians and the end result was a failure to stop comunism in vietnam because the politics got in the way of the military. U.S. troops could off pulled it off however you had politicians intervening and setting up limitations on when to attack or where not to attack there for the military was innefective.

You may ask what does vietnam have to do with the sedition act?

Vietnam was a failure because the country was divided and constant politics intervening on US troops job. If the sedition act was passed during the vietnam war you would of seen a very different outcome in the vietnam war.
