The printing press made literature much more available to the general public and to schools so more people could read about new political and religious ideas as well as better learn basic skills. Also, when The Bible could now be printed in mass quantities, more people read it and realized inconsistencies between the Catholic Church's teachings and the bible. This greatly weakened the power of the Church over the laity. Finally, political Propaganda could now be printed and made available to more people, completely changing the political processes in Europe and later on in other country's.
