Currently there are 100 seats in the U-S Senate. Each state in the Union (in this day and age, that is 50 states) is allowed two seats in the Senate. This is in the Constitution of the U-S. 50 x2 equals 100.

There are one hundred senators, two from each state in the union. If you include the President of the Senate, who is not an elected senator but who is the sitting vice president of the US, you could say there are 101 seats. The President of the Senate can break a tie vote.
The Republican opposition in Congress is currently the majority. The official opposition holds over 225 seats, as opposed to the Senate in which case the Democrats hold the majority of the 100 Senate seats.
