The Jacksonians attempted to gain supporters in the South, West, and North. This was the way the Jefferson Republicans had been able to defeat Adams. The Jacksonians also claimed they represented the "common man" and depicted their opponents as the party of the rich and privileged. That was not really true because there were members in all social classes in most major parties. The Jacksonians did score one by appealing to democratic values which seemed to be missing in the infamous "corrupt bargain." Jacksonian democracy was influenced by the west and many of the restrictions placed on voters soon were being replaced or done away with completely. The west was an area where a person was judged by his independence and ability, not by his social status. That influenced the thinking of those calling themselves Jacksonian Democrats.
What they stand for is different. Republicans stand for big banks and rich people as where Democrats stand for supporting the less fortunate and making the banks pay. Both parties have their faults, however. Some democrats believe that abortion is right but not all democrats do. Republicans stand for Wall Street.
Federalists, like Alexander Hamilton wanted to support England, wanted a strong powerful government, a national bank and a loose interpretation of the Coast. On the other hand, Democratic-Republicans disagreed. They wanted to support France, wanted a small federal government, no national bank and a strict interpretation of the Coast.

Most Republicans, Democrats, Liberals, Conservatives, and Independents are good people who just differ on their point of view about government.
Democrats wants to increase federal spending in order to stimulate the economy; Republicans wanted to cut federal spending.
Among the congressmen, there doesn't seem to be any clear line that either party follows. 65 republicans voted yes, 133 voted no. 140 democrats voted yes, 95 voted no. So, there is no clear attitude, but as you can tell from the voting, the democrats in Congress are generally a bit more positive on the bailout.

Both parties have their faults, however. Some democrats believe that abortion is right but not all democrats do. Republicans stand for Wall Street.
