The war in Vietnam qualifies on both counts. It was a terrible and expensive war-- expensive both in money and in the lives of our soldiers. It was extremely unpopular with draft-age students and others and resulted in Johnson's retirement at the end of his term.

Who said the problem with the young is not that they aim too high and miss the mark it is that they aim too low and hit the mark?

Michelangelo did although it wasn't a problem with just the young it is everyone's problem. The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it. - Michelangelo

Was the Framers' main problem with the British monarchy as a system of governme?

The greatest concern with the British government was with the concept that there was no one in Parlaiment to speak for the colonies. With this in mind a number of issues came up such as taxation without representation, being limited on who the colonies can trade with, etc.

What is an inescapable problem an historian must face?

From my perspective, the greatest problem historians face is the fact that books may have been written with the basic facts but twisted to fit the tone of the politics of the time. Or the information is not written down accurately. As in all things, the perspective of the observer varies from one person to the next and what one understands may be different than another. Having consistent honest documentation that tells the entire truth is hard to verify at times.

What are non traditional courts?

For example a "non traditional" court would consist of a problem-solving court, this is because this court has many roles not often played in any other court. Sometimes not at all played. But, it is not only "non traditional" because of its uncommon roles but also because Problem-solving courts are made to accommodate offenders with specific needs and problems that were not or could not be adequately addressed in traditional courts. Problem-solving courts seek to promote outcomes that will benefit not only the offender, but the victim and society as well. Thus problem-solving courts were developed as an innovative response to deal with offenders' problems, including drug abuse, mental illness, and domestic violence. Although most problem solving court models are relatively new, early results from studies show that these types of courts are having a positive impact on the lives of offenders and victims and in some instances are saving jail and prison costs
