The 1st of September was when the Germans, under the Nazi leader Adolf Hitler invaded Poland. This led to the British and french giving an ultimatum to the Germans that demanded that the Germans would evacuate from Poland. The Germans ignored this and war was declared on the 3rd September 1939, World war two began.
