I believe that it was because it allowed more crops to be grown and allowed the rising population in Britain to be fed. It also would eventually introduce the four field system and other inventions.

But it was bad because it would leave to child labor and the industrial revolution which isn't helping of environment.

Btw, don't just believe me I'm 14 and we just learned this in social studies.
