Pros:

  • citizens are given full civil rights and freedoms , including freedom of press, freedom of speech, right to employment, right to religion etc.
  • everyone is given a voice, through elections, referendums and other public conferences
  • the majority always "wins". What the majority of the citizens of a country want, this is what is given.

Cons:

  • it is a weak government - turnover of governments is frequent
  • there is often a lot of interest in political gain, and power gain by politicians and those in parliament, rather than the search for what is best for the country.

the pro and cons are fairly straightforward.

Pros: the people are there own government and they controls it, and they can make there own laws

Cons: the people always a have to agree, and the people have to decide which people will run the country.
