In any civil suit (meaning that someone is getting sued) where the amount in question exceeds $20.00 either party has the right to have the decision made by a jury. Furthermore no previous jury decision can be reversed or even discussed.

Example: Nicole Simpson's family sued OJ for several million dollars after he was acquitted. The jury found in favor of the plaintiff but that did not mean that OJ was convicted of any crime.
