The K-141 Kursk was a Russian nuclear cruise missile submarine. It was lost with all of its men on board when it sank in the Barents Sea on August 12, 2000. That day, the Kursk sailed out to sea to fire dummy torpedoes. The missiles were fired, and an explosion occurred soon after. It is speculated that this was due to the failure and explosion of one of Kurskâ??s new/developmental torpedoes.
