Unlike authoritarian and dictatorial authority a leader in consultative authority will consult with his/her subordinates to make decisions although ultimately it is still the leader that makes the final decision. An example of consultative authority would be in a staff meeting (in a school or other workplace) in which suggestions can be made by the staff about different sections of the work place but it is up to the boss/ head role to make the final decision.
