Why do you need coats?
You don't always need a coat, sometimes a light jacket is fine. But when it is really cold or snowing, you don't want to shiver and feel so cold. I like to wear a zipper-up hoodie. That way, I can be protected by the elements, but if it gets warm, I can unzip it and get more air. It's a personal preference, really.
