In today's world the religion in Egypt is predominantly Islam. There is a 10% population of Coptic Christians which is a Church only found in Egypt.

In ancient times, Egyptians were a polytheistic nation who had gods like Amun, Ra, Osiris, Ptah, Bast, Khnum, Muut, Nuut, Sobek and Anubis to name but a few. Everything was connected to nature in some way, especially in relation to the river Nile.

Egypt official religion is Islam. Egypt is a Muslim majority country with Muslims amount to 78.5 millions that constitute 94.6% of Egypt total population and 5% of world Muslim population. This is according to Pew Forum study as of October 2009 (Refer to related link below).
About 90% of Egypt's population is Muslim with a Sunni majority. About 9% of the population is Coptic Christian, other religions and other forms of Christianity comprise the remaining one percent.

Egyptian culture has lasted for thousands of years. Ancient Egypt was among the first civilizations and the traditions of the pharaohs and tribal culture still exist to some extent. In modern day Egypt there is a variety of culture and new technology has been embraced.

Ancient Egyptian culture was heavily based on the Egyptian religion. Their religion was cult like and had many different sectors and gods. Each god or goddess had its own cult and city that worshipped him or her. Also, Egyptians believed their pharaohs had divine power and worshipped them like gods. Religion dominated ancient Egyptian daily life.

In modern Egypt, the majority of the population are Arabs who are Sunni Muslim. Around 10% of the population are Copts, the original inhabitants of the region, and they are mostly Coptic Orthodox Christians. There are other Muslim, Christian and Jewish minorities.
