In the United States, women have been voting since 1920. In the UK, some women got the right in 1918, but there were restrictions for several more years depending on whether they were property owners. If you go to Wikipedia and search for Women's suffrage, then scroll down, thee is a chart showing the years and conditions on voting in many different countries.

The first country to give women the right to vote was New Zealand, then a colony, in 1893.

Women had been allowed to vote earlier in some places, notably in the US territory of Wyoming in 1869, and much earlier, in 1776, in New Jersey, though that state took the right away from women in 1807, ostensibly to avoid voter fraud.

Under the principles of natural law and human rights, women always had the right--they didn't have to "earn" it. However, they were denied the opportunity to exercise their rights throughout much of history.

In the United States, the 19th Amendment to the Constitution was ratified in 1920, which declared that women could not be legally denied their right to vote. In fact, women had been voting in state and local elections in various states for many years before that; the 19th Amendment made the law uniform across the country for all elections.
