the new jersey plan was an idea for equal representation with all states .it was rejected. because states have representation based on population tis novel idea was probally favored by the smaller, less populated states.....<3...rock on! sewnheartX
smaller ones
Virginia favored the Virginia plan and New Jersey favored the New Jersey plan
The Virginia Plan favored mostly the larger states because it was based on population. The New Jersey Plan favored smaller states because each state represented equally.
Basically, smaller states had little representation in the national government. Since population determined representation in the Virginia Plan, smaller states felt that they would lose substantial power in the nation government.

Virginia Plan and New Jersey Plan
I think it was a plan for government that favored smaller states. There was also the Virginia plan that favored the bigger states. So there was the Great Compromise which combined both those were there will be two houses of government (one house's representation based upon population and the other house's representation based upon equal representation for each state)
Smaller States favored the New Jersy Plan. Mostly the northen, small population states such as New Jersey, New York, Conneticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island favored it because it gave them a fair vote.
