The lasting impact of George Washington is that he legitimized the United States presidency and set precedents that remain today, such as the presidential veto and two-term limit (which later became law).

George Washington's legacy was the farm and amateur brewery that he owned. Many people of the time had farms to upkeep as well as working for the government. When George Washington was having a problem coping with governmental ideas, he would be brewing beer on his farm.

George Washington's leadership was indispensable during the Revolutionary War and historians generally agree that the revolution would have failed, without Washington. Therefore we can say that the United States of America (at least, as we know it) would not have existed without Washington, and it is his greatest legacy.
