W.E.B. Du Bois wrote so many unsuccessful pieces of literature but had two that really raised the roof in his time period. First, "The Crisis" was a magazine that he and a few buddies put together while he was in the NAACP. Then he wrote The Soul of Black Folk and that was a huge thumbs up to his career.
