There was 1000000 strategy. It was an unplanned event. As the troops marched into Lexington the men of the town met and decided to face them on the village green. The 77 men gathered their flintlocks to face the most powerful army of their time. As they stood there watching the troops file in they were told to leave the green and they refused. A shot rang out and shooting began. Before it was finished several men were dead, some houses were on fire, and the troops were moving on to Concord. Word got out about the mornings events and colonial men began to gather so they could respond in return.
