the government during the 1970s was at rock bottom. the democracy was not stable. As percentage of independent countries, democracies reached their lowest point, weighing in at only 30%.
Socialist. All the rubbish that the students came up with in the 60's became the law of the land in the 70's.
The rise of conservatism in the late 1970s was largely a reaction to the perceived failures of liberal policies during the 1960s and early 1970s, including economic stagnation, high inflation, and social unrest. The liberal agenda was seen as leading to increased government intervention and a decline in traditional values. Prominent figures like Ronald Reagan and the emergence of the New Right galvanized conservative movements, emphasizing free markets, limited government, and a strong national defense. This shift was further fueled by disillusionment with liberal leadership and a desire for a return to more conservative principles.
In the 1960s and 1970s, the U.S. government expanded the rights of people with disabilities primarily through the passage of key legislation like the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, which prohibited discrimination based on disability in federal programs and services. Additionally, the Education for All Handicapped Children Act of 1975 ensured that children with disabilities had the right to a free and appropriate public education. These laws marked significant progress in promoting accessibility, inclusion, and civil rights for individuals with disabilities.
In the 1970s, Americans were deeply concerned about social justice, civil rights, and environmental issues, spurred by movements advocating for women's rights, racial equality, and ecological preservation. The decade also saw significant political unrest due to the Vietnam War, leading to widespread protests and a growing distrust in government. Economic challenges, such as inflation and the oil crisis, further shaped public priorities, prompting calls for energy conservation and economic reform. Overall, the 1970s were marked by a push for greater equality and accountability in both society and government.

Blue and hungry.
Many people felt that the government, particularly the Presidency, had betrayed them.
No. Japan's people will not take over. Japan's government gambled on the best 1970s technology for its automobile industry. It was right. It made the best products available in the 1970s. It still makes the best products available for the 1970s. The same government that pushed industry forward in the 1970s is now holding it back. (The same thing happens in other countries. Mexico has the largest untapped petroleum reserves in the world. They took over their oil business in 1938. They can not recover that oil using 1938 technology.) The people likely to take over are the Chinese. The government has gotten out of their way. While the government needs to do something about their pollution, It does not need to determine their technology.
