Battle of Yorktown
The first American-British combat in the American Revolution took place 19 April 1775 at the Battle of Lexington and Concord (Massachusetts). American volunteers and militia fought off three attacks by British regular troops, only withdrawing when they ran short of ammunition and gunpowder for their muskets and cannons.
