The sons of liberty were patriots who would revolt against British tax laws and they were the ones who were tar and feathering tax collectors and loyalists. Some of the sons of liberty were Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, and others.

They were a group who smuggled items into the colonies and Adams and his friend Hamilton were the biggest smugglers in the colonies. Adams was the organizer and Hamilton was the money man. When the British lowered the tea tax the price of the smuggled Dutch tea became too high so to save their businesses they organized the Boston tea party not to protest taxes, but to save the smuggling business. Later, they will hire men like Paul Revere to draw a handbill showing the Boston Massacre and to go to Concord. From smugglers they became revolutionaries.
