Saint Bernadette of Lourdes is venerated as a Saint and Christian mystic by the Catholic Church. She was the daughter of François Soubirous and his wife Louise Casterot and was born on January 7 of 1844 in St. Pierre, Lourdes, the same place where she had her Visions of Virgin Mary. Later in her life she moved to the province of Nevers to join the Sisters of Charity of Nevers congregation, where she died in 1879.
